PROJECT OVERVIEW Boeing is the world's leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. Additionally, Boeing designs and manufactures rotorcraft, electronic and defense systems, missiles, satellites, launch vehicles and advanced information and communication systems. As a major service provider to NASA, Boeing operates the Space Shuttle and International Space Station. The company also provides numerous military and commercial airline
support services. Boeing has customers in more than 90 countries around the world and is one of the largest U.S. exporters in terms of sales.
Boeing demands excellence and quality from all vendors, and specifically manages those with strict guidelines for proven engineering, design, and performance. Boeing was entertaining proposals from all of the big name major systems manufacturers. AIS offered all of the amenities important to Boeing, plus design and layout ideas that the others did not offer. AIS demonstrated their ability to more thoroughly understand the needs of Boeing in this hoteling environment and, in turn, was awarded the contract. The serpentine and pinwheel layout fit nicely in the floorplan and provided a more interesting work environment than a typical box layout.
Additionally, Boeing was impressed that a small manufacturer like AIS won the Shingo Prize in 2003 for excellence in lean manufacturing, and was one of only a handful of small companies to ever do so.
CLIENT COMMENTS "I am very satisfied with AIS. They went above and beyond the call of duty to accommodate my fluctuating construction deadlines. They won this project because they promised to work harder to satisfy our needs and they exceeded my expectations."
